Mini-Vacay

Can you really call 5 days away sans child, 2 of which were spent driving, a proper vacation? Maybe not, but it was still a wonderful time along the coast, with spectacularly mild weather and scenery, beautiful accommodations, and scrumptious meals along the way. Throw in 3 surf sessions for Norm and a yoga class, 2 runs and a swim for me, and suffice it to say we were at least approaching relaxation.

Part of my attempt to decompress meant leaving both the fancy camera and blackberry at home, so we only took a few pics with Norm's cell phone. A fair tradeoff, if you ask me.

Our second night in Cambria just before dinner (first night was in Ojai):

What we didn't photograph includes hours of walking the streets of Cambria and Carmel to shop for art and gifts, spur of the moment meals that rocked our world (Robin's in Cambria gets a big thumbs up), and the impetus for the entire trip, an amazing surprise birthday party for one of our close friends at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, replete with a private dining room for 30, DJ and lotsa dancing (my fave - an uncrowded dance floor amongst friends!)

It was great to get away for few days, but also so, so nice to be back home.
