The remedy for this predicament? Take a Saturday that finally feels like summer in terms of air temps. Remove all obligations. Then fill with a 38-pound dynamo who leaves me no choice but to view the world through wondrous, 4-year-old eyes.
Playing dress-up to pose for pics started out as serious business.

But quickly morphed into something a little sillier, where goofy faces and hysterical Horsky laughs simply could not be contained.

Late afternoon coaxed us out into the pool area, to lounge like ladies without a care in the world:

One of us apparently thought she was a Hollywood starlet:

Thankfully, without too much of a diva attitude.
Daddy then joined us for a good two hours in the pool before dinner, where he and Ariel diligently worked on her latest tricks.
Mermaid Crawl:

She's 4, people, and doing freestyle pretty effortlessly back and forth across the short end of the pool. Not to mention that she can do several strokes of butterfly (dolphin kick included). We're seriously waiting for the gills to sprout.
Her newest favorite water sport? Back flips with a little help from Daddy. Case in point:

Ok, ok, so maybe the landings could use a little work.
The stress of the past few days has melted away. Balance has returned.

Perspective, baby, perspective.

a) Your daughter is so stinking cute. I love how girly she is...since my life around here is so filled with testosterone. And I'm not even that girly myself.
b) Holy back stroke, Batman! Look at that girl GO! Nice!
c) Your pool is gorgeous. That is all.
Wow, she is really good at swimming.
And her dress-up stuff is really cute.
Does she want to inherit her dress-up stuff to Lemon? ;)
Good idea, Efka! :)
