Paradise

I just returned from a few days of work travel. I missed my family, of course, but as I sit here in my home office today, I am overcome by the sheer beauty of where we live. Yes, the state is gorgeous, our city is amazing, and even our neighborhood is wonderful. What I'm referring to is our actual home and the incredibly lush vegetation we're surrounded with every day. I literally can't stop staring out my office window at the canopy of tropical foliage that is absolutely resplendent in the summer sun.

I understand, as Norm has reminded me on more than one occasion, that a house is just a house, and home is wherever we can be with our family. I do get it. However, I'm not afraid to shout from the rooftops that I love, love, love this place. I realize that life brings many changes and I'm trying to learn to roll with 'em as much as possible, to know that I can find peace wherever I am as long as I'm ok with myself. For now, though, this property is my calm, my serenity, my sanctuary. And I'm going to drink in every blooming succulent, every towering palm, and every hummingbird that rejoices in its beauty, for all they're worth. Every. Last. Vibrant. Gorgeous. Drop.
