Graduation

This past Monday evening we celebrated a momentous occasion in our family.

Oh yes. Along with 40 other 5-year-olds from the JCC, our little one is leaving preschool and getting ready to enter the wonderful world of kindergarten in the fall.

Nanny Lena brought her to the school straight from dance class, and dressed her in a gown Lauren selected especially for this event (and only $30 on sale at Bergstroms, woot woot!).

You could tell how special and beautiful Lauren felt just by looking at her.

I walked Lauren to her classroom to meet up with her teachers and classmates for a final gathering before the ceremony began.

The parents and guests were ushered into the theater, where we waited with baited breath for the celebration to begin. Marching in single file, some with heads lowered and shy smiles hidden, others beaming from ear to ear while waving furiously at the crowd (for the record, Lauren did her pageant wave with a sweet grin), the kids took their pint-sized seats facing the audience.

Then proceeded to perform a multitude of songs in English, Hebrew and even Italian!

Immediately following the ceremony, everyone indulged in a decadent fruit and dessert spread, where Lauren basked in the love of Nana and Pop-Pop Mark.

Not to mention mini cupcakes on a stick.

As the sun began its slow descent, the kids readily expressed their affection for each other, hanging onto the memories of a wonderful year together.

And last but certainly not least, Toby.

They said their goodbyes overlooking the shimmering water of the Junior Olympic pool.

Even played chase for old times' sake.

And then embraced one last time, the sun's golden rays streaming through their hair.

Needless to say, our girl was flying high.

So we're off to begin a summer full of exploration and activities, along with some much needed down time to just hang out and relax.

Just. Can't. Wait.
