Since she didn't have school that day, we invited one of her best buds Ava to join us. Both girls were beyond thrilled to have a day of adventure with each other at the Disneyland and California Great Adventure parks.

As has become our tradition, first up was the Small World ride. Even though the parks were fairly crowded by the time the gates opened at 9:00 a.m., we walked right onto a boat, no waiting whatsoever. That's the beauty of this ride (even at 3 p.m., it was only a 5 minute wait) - instant gratification for the 5-and-under set, plus the ride is almost 15 minutes long!

[Note how empty all the boats are]
The girls then did an obligatory pose with a Disney character.

Before we hightailed it all the way over the California Great Adventure to try the new Ariel's Undersea Adventure ride.

Both girls proclaimed this to be their favorite ride, even better than Small World. If you ask me, it's a much shorter, scaled down version of Small World devoted to The Little Mermaid and absent the boats, but I'll admit that the touches of romance devoted to Ariel and Prince Eric are enough to satisfy any little girl's fairy princess dreams.

As was to be expected, our 6 hours in the parks were chock full of activity, from rides to musical performances.
Bumper cars.

[Ava and I had the pleasure of 'bumping' Lauren and Norm over and over again - she said it was her first time on bumper cars and she got a real kick out of them.]
The carousel.

Disney Channel's live show.

Muppet Movie show in 3D.

Modeling matching Minnie wedding ears.

Both girls were so exhausted from all the walking and excitement, that they were more than ready to leave by 3:00 p.m. A final ride on Small World, and we headed home.

[Already dreaming about their next visit together, I'm sure.]
