Cadence and Lauren are both similar in temperament. Tons of energy but incredibly sweet dispositions. They played together for almost 4 hours and there wasn't a single disagreement or tear between the two of them. Tons of time was spent dressing up as princesses (yes, still!) and then reenacting various fairytale scenarios.

You know what amazes me? The amount of time these kids were kept enthralled with the pellets you put in warm water and "hatch" into various animal sponge figures.

Cadence's older sister Laine joined them for the last hour, and the three of them put on a very, um, unique puppet show for the grown ups that involved hurtling play figurines into the audience from backstage. We asked them to take a bow upon the show's conclusion, and here is what we got.

A stunningly beautiful afternoon beckoned the girls outside, where they explored amongst the butterflies and hummingbirds that populate our Shangri-La (swear they've been out in force the past week!)

All too soon, the play date was over. Lauren and Cadence soared to the end of the driveway and then clung to each other as if they would never meet again (although they were going to see each other the very next morning in school).

We've already been invited this coming weekend for a play date with another classmate. We can't wait!
