Paying it forward to the next generation.
Guess who started at our local Yamaha Music center last week?

Even better is the fact that I will be there with her. The 2-year introductory keyboard/music program involves parent participation, so every Friday from here on out, Mama's getting off work early to join Lauren for our keyboard class. My Google calendar even says so.

Nine other students plus Lauren (not to mention us grown-ups), under the tutelage of Miss Grace, are embarking on a journey that doesn't just involve learning how to play the keyboard (and then, later on, the piano), but also singing and musical theory.

We bought a Yamaha keyboard for home that is just like the one at the studio. It proudly rests against a wall in our newly de-cluttered playroom, and almost every day since we brought it home, Lauren has been eager to practice and entertain us with the tinkling of ivories drifting throughout the house.
Love it.
Now excuse me while Mama spends a few minutes practicing too. Certainly wouldn't want to disappoint Miss Grace at our lesson tomorrow.
