So we took the day last Friday to spend a few hours on a thankfully cooler afternoon at the fairgrounds.
Just inside the entry gates, Lauren was greeted by a kinda freaky clown. He was, however, super friendly and let her assist with his magic spinning trick.

Next up she beelined for a vendor where copious amounts of bubbles were being blown.

[hmm, perhaps track and field is in her future?]
But her favorite activity at the fair, hands down?

The free miniature golf course set up to promote some lemon-lime soda. Gotta love it.
The only other game she played was trying to toss a ring around a rubber duckie's neck. I only had enough tickets for 5 ring tosses. But the super nice carnival guy kept letting her try, and try, and try.
Guess what?

Talk about being excited - she was over the moon. And I wasn't about to be the one to tell her that Mr. Nice Carnival Guy slipped one of the rings around a duckie's neck while she wasn't looking. Reaffirmation that there are good folks in the least likeliest of places.
Despite having Lauren wear her tennies instead of sandals (due to her propensity to trip while running), she still managed to take a spill over some cables on the ground between some of the rides. It was a little scrape with only a small amount of blood, but our drama queen insisted on going to the first aid station to get a bandage and some TLC.

The theme of the fair this year is "Let's Eat!" We didn't go crazy with the food (too expensive!!), but did indulge a bit.
A ginormous piece of pizza for Lauren.

And none other than Pink's chili dogs for the grownups.

The Budweiser Clydesdale horses were getting ready for their jaunt around the fairgrounds. I so want one of these beautiful creatures.

We'll take one of these too.

All in all, we accomplished quite a bit in just under 3 hours and of course, Lauren had a blast.
Until next year.
