Wet Weekend

It has been raining for 3 days straight now and there is no end in sight. Actually, according to the weather service, there is an end to this storm, but not for at least 3 more days. Oy. For us Southern California folks, that's a long rainy spell. We almost don't know what to do with ourselves if we can't be outside.

We made the best of it this weekend, though. Starting with a Saturday play date at twins Gigi and Finley's house (Pre-K classmates).

The three musketeers. So much fun to eavesdrop on their conversations while they're playing together. Until, of course, Lauren and Gigi embarked on a discussion about their classroom crush.

What the Doodle Pro pad says is "Toby Love." Toby is a boy in their class. Lauren has recently proclaimed that she loves Toby and is going to marry him. Of course, Gigi says he's her boyfriend too. Kid really gets around. When I asked the girls why they like Toby so much, they both responded in unison: "Because he's funny." 'Atta girls. Continue to pick sense of humor and personality over looks any day.

After lunch we were off to a holiday work party thrown by one of Norm's colleagues. Lauren spent the bulk of the party in the garage at the cookie decorating station.

A half dozen silver bell sugar cookies later (smeared an inch thick with frosting and sprinkles, much of which ended up embedded in the sleeves of her dress), we called it an afternoon.

This morning, as the rain continued to beat down, I added a little somethin' somethin' to our Sunday morning pancakes.

And because we refused to stay inside for another entire day (and since the temperature really wasn't that frigid), we hightailed it to the end of our driveway, where Lauren put on a Singin in the Rain show, complete with accessory changes, puddle jumping and umbrella spinning.

Our little one has finally gone to sleep (we pray), and while school is out for two weeks, she is enrolled in winter camp there, which we're sure will not only be a whole lotta fun, but will provide additional entertaining tales to share.

Don't feel badly about the 'lie'.
Every night, to get Dexter to stay in his bed, I say, "If you do good laying, I will come back in for one more kiss later!"

And I do..
After he's fallen asleep.
