As for pants? Not so much. The full-on veto will come out for anything with a zipper, snap or button around her waist. "It's too uncomfortable, Mama", she'll whine (why, oh why, is 4-and-a-half filled with so much whining lately?). And those seriously cute skinny toddler jeans that are bedazzled to the moon and back? Nope. Nary a thread of denim is allowed to touch her porcelain skin.
Enter Nana. Who discovered the. most. fabulous. jeggings. in. the. world. Jeggings, for the uninitiated, are leggings that look like jeans. And my mom found a pair that are silky soft, simulate a distressed fabric and have bedazzled back pockets. Score. Even Lauren, the non-pants-wearing girly girl, couldn't wait to get them on.
So this morning, off she went to high school, I mean pre-school, with a swaggering 'tude to match her outfit.

I have to admit that seeing her in these startled me to some extent - where has my baby girl gone??? Someone please bring her back!! Thankfully, by bedtime tonight, with her hair damp from the bath and in her Little Mermaid nightgown, she looked more like our sweet and cuddly little girl, clinging to her Cinderella blankie as I read her a book and tickled her back until her eyes began to droop and she was ready to drop off to sleep.
