Holiday Weekend

Summer is almost officially over, even though the temps here are finally nice and warm. We couldn't resist hosting another BBQ and pool party on this holiday weekend for our group of friends we met through Lauren's ballet class. It truly is remarkable how well all of the children get along. Typically at this age you're bound to have little tiffs or disagreements resulting from not sharing, etc, but we really don't with this group. It was such a pleasure to not only know how much fun Lauren was having for the few hours everyone was here, but to be able to socialize with the grown-ups, enjoy a glass of wine (or two) and realize she's at an age where she is fairly self-sufficient.

All of these families are so wonderful, and we look forward to many more occasions (or for no reason at all!) to get together and just hang out.

Nothing makes me happier than a full house (or yard, as the case may be).

Back on dry land, the kids kicked the energy up another notch.

Speaking of love, Lauren is quite enamored of little Lola.

Yes, that face is mighty hard to resist, and she also has personality for miles to boot.

Seeing this through the lens made my heart skip. What a great big sister she would be. Sigh.

Norm had mad skills tonight with the barbeque. Marinated flank steak, chicken apple sausage, squash, corn on the cob, peppers and onions. Wish I had a brag photo, he really rocked it out.

As the evening wound down, the kids continued to congregate around Reagan's daddy. Seriously, he's better than the Pied Piper.

Much too soon, it was time to bid everyone adieu.

Good friends, good food, good times. Our perfect recipe for a holiday weekend.
