Last week we attended Back to School Night at Lauren's preschool in order to see her classroom, meet her teachers, and catch a glimpse of the other kids in her class. First off, why can't preschools hold a Back to School Morning or Back to School Afternoon? After all, school doesn't start until the following week so what is it that educators and school administrators are doing that wouldn't allow for kids and parents to spend an hour there during the day? I suppose it could be out of concern for working parents, but seriously, letting 3 and 4-year-olds run rampant in freshly painted and scrubbed classrooms beginning at 5:00 p.m. doesn't strike me as the most logical idea. But maybe that's just me. Rant over.
Even though she was overtired beyond belief, Lauren still seemed thrilled with her class, from her teachers to her fellow students (many of whom she already knows and likes), to the pet rat named Scooter.
