Gratitude

My dearest daughter. I realize that I am constantly taking pictures of you. More often than not (way more often), you do not like to look at the camera and flash that sweet, precious smile of yours. I have come to appreciate and enjoy the more candid moments, when the lens catches you intently studying an ant on the sidewalk or singing and spinning down the driveway, oblivious to the world around you.

I. love. you. so. so. much. Yes, I adore you even when you are being incredibly obstinate, like tonight, when you steadfastly refused to get in the bath (which believe me, you desperately needed), and the only way I could convince you to get clean was to join you in the tub to play mermaids.

And when you do focus your ocean blue gaze upon me and hold it just long enough for the shutter to snap, please know how incredibly grateful I am, not just for the digital images I will cherish forever, but to have you in my life and for teaching me what it's like to feel my heart grow and burst a little more every day.

These are gorgeous, Dee! Oh my!

And the dancing pics are beautifully sweet. Does she not want to do dance anymore.

I so badly want to put AJ in dance, but I don't think Richard would like that. I think AJ would and me too! lol.

Hi Sonya - Lauren's been complaining about going to dance since way before her recital, but I made her honor her commitment through the recital. She had a great time, but we are taking the summer to enjoy our weekends without too many planned activities. Hopefully she'll want to start again in the fall. Re putting AJ in dance, there were only a few boys of a couple hundred dancers in Lauren's recital, but they all had featured roles in their numbers, and appeared to be worshipped by the girls! How could Richard argue with that, lol.
