I kept her home from school, missed work, cancelled her regular swim lesson and braced myself for a day of total cuddling, rocking, and wiping away of tears. But wouldn't ya know? She woke up happy, as in ready to joke around and play, play, play kind of happy. "Mama, my ear doesn't hurt anymore", she proudly announced.
So what are a mom and daughter to do? Have a girls day, of course. Our highlight? Lunching on chinese chicken salad (from the same heaping plate, while she stole all of the slivered almonds and crunchies), followed by some time at a nearby fountain, where fervent wishes on pennies were made:

And Lauren got her daily allowance of Vitamin D while perched atop her favorite frog:

Of course, the calm of the day was momentarily disrupted by my piercing scream upon looking through the lens and witnessing this:

So even though the circumstances leading to our mid-week one on one weren't ideal, it ended up feeling like a little bonus to me.

Is this the same fountain that she wished for diamonds and a man? lol.
Why yes, as a matter of fact, it is one of a series of fountains where she has made those wishes. She's not leaving anything up to chance. :)
