Of course we jazzed it up just a bit.

With no dance class this weekend, we were able to spend Saturday morning lazin' around, reading the paper, and indulging in fresh brewed cinnamon coffee (as opposed to the frenetic pace to get her fed, dressed in dance attire, hair put up, and toting a to-go mug while racing out the door).

A beautiful weekend calls for lots of outdoor activity. We love our home so much we never really have to leave the driveway.

Especially when handsome daddy is hanging out at the end of it (with his Papa Bear coffee cup in tow).

Waiting to play with sidewalk paint. Score.

The only thing that could top that?

Having a dad so mad cool that he allows himself to be dressed up in a veil, with earrings no less!

Sunday dawned with abundant sunshine and we welcomed Pop-Pop Mark to the house to celebrate his birthday with breakfast at our favorite bagel shop. No birthday would be complete, however, without a cake, or in this instance, cupcakes. Lauren was so excited to help bake them and choose the flavors for the cake and frosting. Her selection for the cake? The ever popular with the 4-and-under set: strawberry. I'll admit to never before having a strawberry cupcake. While baking, I half expected to see Strawberry Shortcake pop out of the oven. The frosting choice? There was only one contender for Lauren in the supermarket aisle. Strawberries and cream. Yes, you read that correctly. One taste and I was transported back to the dentist's chair as a child with a mouth full of strawberry flavored flouride. Not exactly yum, but Lauren was in pink heaven.
Singing happy birthday to Pop-Pop wouldn't have been complete if Lauren didn't have a cupcake and candle of her own.

He didn't say so, but I'm pretty sure my dad didn't mind sharing the moment. And try as I might, for some reason he refused my effusive offer (read: attempted bribe) to take the remaining cupcakes home with him.

Sunday afternoon was devoted to all things water.
We began by testing our new sprinkler (in the driveway again, sense a theme here?).

Then retired to the spa for some more wet fun.

Norm and I both had to catch up on work on Memorial Day, but we certainly squeezed enough into the weekend to carry us through for another week.
