Dancing Queen

Lauren's ballet recital is rapidly approaching. The 3 to 5 year olds in her Saturday morning class have seriously been learning and rehearsing their routine for months now (G-d bless Miss Haylee). Funny (well, kinda, sorta) how week after week, it still looks like they are learning the moves for the first time. Regardless, those 12 girls are bound to look cuter than cute while twirling to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in their baby blue Cinderella dance dresses (that must have at least a 400% markup - this dance thing is a serious racket).

The girls have been encouraged to practice their dance moves at home. Easy peasy, right? Especially for one little dancetastic star.

Well, a little problem seems to have developed along the way. You see, Lauren has decided that she no longer likes "boring" ballet moves (her word, not mine). That's not to say that she isn't eager to dance at home. No. Not at all. Lately she's been giving almost nightly performances of a different kind.

Think Tina Turner mixed with a little Fergilicious.

Costume changes between musical numbers are mandatory, of course.

So after the June recital, unfortunately, ballet slippers may become a thing of the past in our household. I have a sneaking suspicion that jazz shoes are in our family's future.
