From the Mouths of Babes

It's so amazing to me how children say exactly how they're feeling at that moment, every thought and emotion laid out there, pure and unedited.

Tonight while rocking with Lauren before bed (she needed some extra special cuddling tonight so requested that I "rockie" with her), she burrowed her sweet face into my neck, took a deep breath and said:

"Mama, you smell so good."

I asked - "What do I smell like?"

Her answer? "You smell like yourself."

I couldn't control the tears as they began to well up. She must have thought she said something wrong because she immediately began planting kisses down my arm and then, lifting her sleepy head, said, "Actually, you smell like coconut" (clearly inhaling the vestige of the organic coconut oil I now use in lieu of body lotion).

Ah, how I love this child.
