I wanted Lauren to have the experience of carving her first pumpkin, digging out the "guts", and roasting pumpkin seeds. Well, I found out that it was Norm's first time carving a pumpkin also!! He and Lauren did a great job with their "ghost" pumpkin - I don't know which one of them was more proud of the result.
Here's Lauren posing with Nanni and her creation:

The Sunday prior to Halloween (it was the following Friday night), our neighborhood held its annual Halloween block party in one of the culdesacs. All the kids dressed up, everyone brought potluck, and lots of games were played. Lauren was in her element, so excited to preview her princess Halloween dress. Nanni and Pop Pop Paul were visiting friends in San Diego that evening, so Nana and Pop Pop Mark came by to give the princess a send off to her ball:

Of course, Jim our pool guy stopped by to catch a glimpse of the princess too, and struck a pose with Lauren and neighbor Megan:

Once at the block party, Lauren met up with her best friend Faith, age 3, who was a charming bumblebee. They hung out the entire night, and made a date to trick or treat together on Halloween.

All of the activity tuckered our little energizer bunny out, so she hopped a ride home with Daddy:

Next post: photos of the big night itself . . . . . .
