October Days

We so love this time of year. Dry, warm days and cool evenings. Still light enough outside after work to play with Lauren in the street before bath at 6:30 p.m. Wandering throughout our neighborhood to look at other families' Halloween decorations and say "hello" to all of the witches, ghosts and goblins.

Lauren had been terrified of some of the scarier decorations, but over the past week has warmed up to an assortment of skeletons and monsters at other houses. We purchased some additional decorations last weekend, and she really likes them, even the witch! The only thing we can't do is turn on the witch (who cackles, sways back and forth and rises to over 7 feet with blinking red eyes). But hey, baby steps.

Of course we found another pumpkin patch to visit on Sunday. You think you're getting tired of reading about all of our visits to them? Imagine being there. This one had 50-cent kid rides (the cheap kind you see at the K-Mart exit), a petting zoo, and giant pumpkin area. To a 2 year old, it was heaven, so who were we to argue? The look of joy on her face, as they say in the Visa commercial, is priceless.

Last but not least, a sweet shot just hanging out in our backyard over the weekend after a game of hide and seek with Giraffe and her painted pumpkin:

Love all the pumpkin patch pictures - seem so silly to me that you are in "warm weather" clothes!! Gotta love California!
