Lauren has decided that she does not want to grow up - who wouldn't want to remain a baby forever, right? She's still not in her big girl bed and since she no longer fits in the porta crib and Nana and Pop Pop Mark's house, that means that she hasn't spent the night there in several months (which also means that Mommy and Daddy haven't had a night alone together in at least that long). Her common refrain now when we ask her when she will start sleeping in her bed is: "When I'm 3!!" That's still 6 months from now, which will fly by, but we're really hoping to accomplish that goal long before then.
I realized last night that Lauren must associate age 3 with being grown up. Here's the story: we were driving home after dinner with Nana and Pop Pop Mark (after a splendid afternoon at yet another pumpkin patch) when we passed a high school football field with the lights glaring (it was almost dark out). Lauren asked "What's that?" I explained that they were lights for a football game at a high school, and she then asked "What's high school?" That lead to an explanation of all of the levels of school, from preschool through graduate school (of course I included grad school in there, have to plant those seeds young!!). Lauren asked "Will I go to all of those schools?" "Yes", I said, of course you can go to all of those schools as you grow up. To which Lauren exitedly asked "When I'm 3?!"
