Pilgrim Project

Yes, I know I'm incredibly behind on my blogging. I miss it, really I do. It's just that the past month has been so chock full of everything that I literally haven't had a spare second to catch my breath, let alone sit down and edit photos and create somewhat witty blog posts.

I'll try to catch up best I can, promise. And you'll see exactly what's been occupying our time of late.

Lauren has really started having homework beginning in November. As in math, reading, spelling and Hebrew most nights. Not to mention her pilgrim project.

She was given a popsicle stick and instructions to create a puppet out of any materials she wanted. She had to identify a pilgrim in the family; someone who came to the United States from somewhere else. Of course there is Pop-Pop Paul, but she was itching to make a girl puppet. So that left Nana, who was born in Czechoslovakia and came to this country when she was 5. We were supposed to dress the puppet in a traditional costume of her pilgrim's country.

Here was our inspiration photo:

Off we went to Michael's to load up on supplies (yes, I got a little carried away).

The final result:

We had a ton of fun doing it together over the course of 10 days or so, and I can hardly wait to bring pilgrim Nana home to take her place of honor in Lauren's room.
