Starting with our annual tour of local holiday lights in two surrounding neighborhoods. Appropriately brisk outside this year, Lauren and I bundled up this past Saturday night and headed out.

The amazing miniature winter wonderland inside a garage that takes 6 weeks to construct.

Ever the ballerina, she danced her heart out in front of a house with lights flashing to the beat of Christmas music piped through loudspeakers.

Yesterday afternoon was devoted to all things gingerbread village.

Houses up and ready for decoration.

She couldn't help but snack on the sugary concoctions as she thoughtfully decided where to place them.

The finished village, ready for hours of imaginative play.

Today, she watched the DVD of her Nutcracker ballet production no fewer than 2.5 times (I had to turn it off in the middle of round 3 as it was time for dinner), dancing various parts each time.

Over 45 cards received this year, and still counting. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful, caring people in our lives.

Before bed, I baked brownies, and she put one out with milk on the hearth for Santa, along with our last Hanukkah gelt (which she opened a bit so Santa would be sure to see there was chocolate inside - as Lauren said, "Santa's not Jewish, so he doesn't know what gelt is")

Along with a handwritten card to Santa, that includes blank lines for Santa to respond to the question posed: "Where are you going next Santa?" (The answer written on the card, by the way is "To Laguna Beach, Lauren. Be Good For Your Mommy. Ho Ho Ho.")
Then it was off to bed, where she was completely engrossed in her favorite new book until I turned out the light, whispered our good night saying ("I love you to hearts, infinity, pieces, and beyond"), and kissed her soft cheek.

As she drifted off, I could sense her peacefulness. Exactly what I need right now. Wishing peace and serenity to others who may also need it too.
