Last fall, for example, she started to voice her displeasure with ballet and tap, so we said fine and had her try jazz instead. Bingo. At her dance recital last month she watched the dress rehearsal when older kids were doing lyrical ballet and begged to see if she could do that. She had her first class (for ages 5-7) last week, and Nanny Lena said she adored it. As a parent, hearing that your child feels passionately about something? Well, it's enough to make our hearts burst open just that much more.
This weekend was just plain great. We had no elaborate plans (other than Lauren went with her Nana and Pop-Pop Mark to a princess theater show this afternoon), so we really just had quality family time together. Lauren and I worked on her fairy village, we all spent time in the pool, the 3 of us had a really nice, relaxed dinner at Opah, and Lauren engaged in her newest favorite activities.
Golf with Daddy.

After months of struggling (I like to call it perserverance), she has finally mastered the art of jumping rope, and now will spend a good 20 minutes at a pop showing off her newfound skills.

We also got her first 2-wheeled scooter at Target last night. She tried it out this morning after swim lessons, and by this evening, girlfriend had it wired. I mean, zipping around our culdesac alongside our 14-year-old neighbor Ryan on his skateboard, not a care in the world.

All that action meant lights out at 7 p.m. tonight for the little dynamo. But the scooter is standing ready in the garage, the pads and helmet all carefully laid out for her to don at first light.
