Late Summer Fun

The last few weeks of summer prior to our Del Mar vacay were a blur of activity. Lauren had a week of tennis camp at the Tustin Hills Racquet Club, followed by a week of golf camp at Tustin Ranch Golf Club. Great instructors and super friendly kids. She absolutely loved them both.

At tennis camp, she started off shy and uncertain (as is her m.o.), but by the end of it, she was pounding those balls over the net. The last day, they had a tournament and guess who won?

It was hotter than blazes during her week of golf camp. But she went from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day, proudly announcing to me each evening what they had served for dessert at lunch, lol.

[Note the tiara on her head. She wore a different sparkly tiara to golf camp every. single. day. It became her signature accessory, and the other kids and instructors ebulliently complimented her on her choice of headwear every. single. day.]

The weekend before we headed to Del Mar, my cousin Kim, her husband Jason, and their two girls, Ryan (8) and Jordan (almost 5), were in town for one of Ryan's soccer tournaments. Last minute, we hatched a plan for them to spend the night. A real live sleepover!

We headed to dinner at the ol' Lazy Dog Cafe, where the girls whooped it up.

Then it was back to the house for jammies and books in bed.

After a breakfast of pancakes and turkey bacon, we wished Ryan good luck in the next morning's tourney and bid them adieu. I grew up close with Kim and it is so, so sweet to see Lauren and Kim's kids playing together as cousins. Really brings it full circle.
