We may still be a few weeks from the official launch of spring, but seeing our sprite with her auburn ponytail bobbing up and down as she gave me an exuberant greeting when I pulled into the driveway was only one sign that our favorite season would be upon us very soon.
The other signs?
Petals unfurling themselves to kiss the escaping rays of the sun, bursting with fireworks of color.

Then there's the hummingbirds. Oh, how we love our hummingbirds. Every spring, they nest in our palm trees and we eagerly check their tiny eggs to see if we can catch a glimpse of the precious babies hatching (alas, over the past 5 years we have also witnessed too many that have not made it).
Today I saw the first hummingbird of the season flitting around one of our tallest trees in front of our home. He danced amongst the leaves for a good 10 minutes before darting off. Apparently there was someplace very important he had to be.

Spring, we are more than ready for you. Bring it on.
