Luckily, after a stretch of exceptionally hot weather, Laguna was socked in with fog all morning on Labor Day until about 1:00 p.m., which is about the time we left. Lessened the crowds and certainly lowered my concern about exposing me and my fair child to the sun's harmful rays.
Cooler temps didn't stop the girls from charging straight into the sea, however.

Including testing out their boogie boards.

Along with requisite wipeouts.

Back on dry land, they played in the sand while warming up.

The imaginations of these two is beyond compare, let me tell you. So cute to sneak a listen.
As the sun began to peek through, we walked over to Hennessey's Tavern for lunch.

Super cool kitty shades required, of course.

The icing on the cake before calling it a day?
Beach playground gymnastics.

So while true that my beach time this summer was saved until the very last possible day, we certainly made the most of a few precious hours spent with family. Hardly felt like labor at all.
