But as I created my Fall 2012 Photobucket album, I perused the Summer 2012 album and realized I just couldn't let them all remain ensconced in there. No, they wanted to come out and play.
So in no particular order, here's a few more things that went on around here during the latter part of this past summer.
1. Nanny Tales
Our summer nanny, Diana, whom we loved, headed back to her junior year at USC. But she left us an unbelievable parting gift.
Her mother.

Yep, Celeste is now Lauren's nanny and spends 3 afternoons a week with her after school. Her energy level is only slightly less than that of her daughter. Not to mention she's incredibly tolerant.
Case in point:

2. Neighbor Karina's Birthday Party
At Pump It Up, of course. Always a blast. For the kids, that is.

3. Classmate Adam's Birthday Party

At his home in Coto de Caza. Where it was 99 degrees F. With very little shade. And Mama didn't bring a swimsuit. Good times, I tell ya.
4. Going Down South
I went on a business trip to Virginia and North Carolina with two of my partners. We ate fried pickles and Frito pie.

In conjunction with my business meetings, I was invited back to William & Mary Law School to have lunch with and speak to the Women's Law Society. Seems they thought I had some type of wisdom I could impart almost 20 years post-graduation. We shared stories, laughed and cried (swear). I took away more from the experience than I gave (at least that's certainly what it felt like).

Plus I got to reconnect with Professor Douglas, who is now the Dean of the Law School (but who was a mentor to me while I was there). I still can't get used to calling him Dave, he'll always be Professor Douglas to me.

5. Kitty Meow Meow Play Date
We hosted Virginia for another full-day play date. Thai for lunch, crafts at home, followed by lots of swimming.

6. My BFF
One of my closest friends, Vivian, brought her kids Cameron and Austin from LA to spend a few hours hanging by the pool.

Love relationships with those friends you can just be yourself with and let it all out hang out. Who know about your insecurities but love you despite, or perhaps even more, because of them.

I feel much better now that I've shared. Of course, Lauren also had plenty of pool and beach time with her dad in August too (not to mention her first sailing experience).
Today the weather began a cooling trend, and it seems as if fall really will be upon us by next week. Just as well. I'm finally ready to leave summer behind and experience everything that's waiting for us just around the corner.
