Remember this moment?

Literally 1 day after snapping this, the Evite arrived in my inbox. Certainly lends credence to the power of the mind, wouldn't you say?
On a glorious warm day, Toby had his party at a local bike park. Lauren came prepared with her princess bike (the bike of choice for 2 other guests as well), and dressed down for the occasion (I had to do some convincing for her not to wear the biggest tutu in her closet. She wanted to look extra special for Toby, but relented once I explained that he wouldn't think getting a dress caught in a bike chain was particularly attractive.)

Lauren met up with classmates and friends Ava:

And Gigi:

Then took off for countless races around the 2-lane bike "track".

After lunch, Lauren and Naya (im)patiently waited for the unveiling of the cupcake race car cake.

For the vast majority of the party, Lauren (and the rest of the girls) kept their distance from the birthday boy. I did, however, spy Lauren glancing at his super cute mug periodically.

Our appropriately coy lass did manage to sidle her way up to Toby at the very end of the party, where he presented her with a Superball as a party favor (which she lovingly treasured - during the car ride home, at least. It promptly was lost shortly thereafter.)

The next day was friend Hannah's party at a place called Wowzville, where the kids watched an interactive show, dressed up in Fairyland, and ate pizza, cake and brownie bites to their hearts' content. Lauren and Hannah are in different classes this year, so it was nice to catch up with her and her family.

While today is a holiday for most, Norm and I are both working to catch up from being gone, and Lauren is enjoying some outdoor ice skating at the Irvine Spectrum with Nanny Lena in 77 degree weather. Love where we live!
