The despair was wiped away, however, when we arrived at a princess birthday tea party for one of Lauren's friends. Who wouldn't have a smile plastered on their face while painting mugs, decorating enormous sugar cookies, playing dress-up with someone else's clothes (yes, she already has many of the same outfits, but you know it's sooo much cooler to try them on when they come out of someone else's dress-up trunk), and eating finger PBJs and chocolate-covered strawberries.
The festive mood continued when we got home, with Lauren insisting on applying her party favor lipstick and eyeshadow (on both of us) and pronouncing me her bride so we could get married (adorned with one of her costume veils, thank you very much).

While the rain puddles may have lingered, it did turn out to be a bright sun-shiney day.

Glad she still had fun even though her lessons were cancelled!
