Every Parent's Dream

Lauren had her first day of a 3-week camp today hosted by UCI at her school called The Young Writer's Workshop. Organized by grade, mornings are spent working on reading and writing skills. For those who choose to stay through the afternoon (until 2:30 p.m.), math and science are on the agenda. She has several week-long, non-academic camps on tap later this summer, but I'm told that doing this camp shortly after getting out of school is supposed to help them maintain the information better, as opposed to being on a really long break and then attending the camp right before the new school year begins. Even though two of her best little girlfriends from school registered for the this camp with her, I was still uncertain whether she would enjoy it. So when I got home tonight, I nonchalantly asked Lauren how her first day of camp was. Her response? "It was so fun, Mom. You should have been me." Pure music to my ears. And you know what? I would have loved to have been her today.
