Nanny Kristen has been with us since Lauren was 3.5 months old. We can't believe how quickly 3 years has flown by. As first time parents (including me as a slightly neurotic mom), we did our best to figure out infancy and toddlerhood (and are still doing so), and Kristen has been right there with us every step of the way. From the frustrating time period until age 5 months, when Lauren consistently awoke exactly at the 45 minute mark during her naps (when we would swoop her out of the crib as soon as her little eyelashes started fluttering open to quickly drop into her rocking chair and rock her back to sleep in our arms), to teaching her independent sleep, to watching her inquisitive, precious face light up when she became excited about something (almost everything!), Kristen has experienced every part of Lauren's development. She has been an integral part of our family unit, taking care of Lauren 3-4 days a week for the past 3 years. We've always known that the love she has for Lauren has been unshakeable and that she would do anything to protect, nurture and teach our child. We constantly hear from teachers and others how sweet and incredibly bright Lauren is, that she is well ahead of her years. Kristen has definitely helped developed Lauren's love of learning and challenged her mind, whether with educational workbooks or just knowledge gained from exploring the world.
Kristen has reached a point in her life where she is ready to start a daycare in her home, and while we will be sad to see her go, we wish her the best of luck. Anyone would be extremely fortunate to have her teach and take care of their child. While she will still be with us for another month or so a day or two per week until her business is up and running, today was her official "last" day, so we exchanged cards and gifts. She got Lauren a Yo Gabba Gabba Halloween DVD (which caused Lauren to jump up and down for joy, literally), and some roasted coffee beans for me and Norm. We gave her a super plush bamboo and silk blanket for her bed, which is exactly like the one Lauren has (except in a different color). Kristen had commented on how much she loved Lauren's blanket, so hopefully it was a nice surprise. We thought it would help keep Lauren close to her in some way.

Kristen is the one who has been a gift to us. We are sure she will be in Lauren's life forever and know that Lauren will have so much fun with Nanny K in the years to come.
